these environments were on SuSe Linux. I crafted scripts for a variety of

procedures, and worked closely with the UNIX, Oracle, Middleware, and SAN

ensure reliable and timely network, server and desktop support. Troubleshot
connectivity problems, desktop applications, and upgraded new and old
desktops and servers for a more productive computing environment. Worked on
both UNIX and WinTel platforms and a multitude of operating systems and
protocols. Worked on clustering technologies and parallel computing software
issues. Assisted in a
modem
pool upgrade. Performed backup administration with Veritas /Netbackup
software. Created new users, cloned desktops and built both UNIX and NT/2000
servers for a wide range of needs and applications. Debugged NT/BSOD issues.
My job description was varied. Assisted in many upgrades and accepted many
new projects during my contract. Upgraded several hundred UB switches and
routers to the new CISCO standard while preserving uptime and continued
access. Continued to work with many proprietary applications and remedied
many facets of several computing environments.

Completely rebuilt an existing LAN/WAN topology to 10/100Mbs from an existing
ISDN/workgroup configuration. Installed several NT workstations and upgraded
a WinNT3.51 server to 4.0 to better provide students and faculty with a
technologically competitive, educational advantage. Ensured secure access and
network connectivity. Instructed upper management in the use of this hardware
and software. Specifically, incorporated a standard MS shop from pieces of
existing databases and applications while preserving all necessary data and
access. After this upgrade, was asked to develop an Intranet web page of all
their course offerings. This included incorporating a web-based search,
querying a third-party (Athena) database, library holdings database and the
instruction of the future web development personnel. This searchable index is
now an integral part of their collection.

Biology department is located on the north bank of Lake Texoma. My primary
function was to upgrade
several
older systems and establish an Internet presence for this remote location.
Developed a searchable index of several thousand biological reprints.
Incorporated these reprints with adherence to the ISSN Library of Congress
standard while also providing access to all fields via the MS suite of data
access. This exact index is now available online and they have since added a
T1 line as their Internet connection and a LAN presence for this remote
campus.

largest in the state with a collection of millions including the works of
Galileo. Originally hired
in
a technical support position and eventually replaced the leaving supervisor,
maintaining this position for the remainder of my collegiate career. Directly
responsible for the acquisition of 30 Macs, a laser printer server and
the
upgrade of several machines to Win NT4.0. In this capacity, hired student
employees, upgraded educational CD-ROM databases and provided advanced
support to the whole of the campus population. This included the
incorporation and support of VAX/VMS machines, mainframe access and the
migration of older technologies to an advanced and educationally competitive,
computing environment.
